Property Tax Reset

Protecting the Canadian Dream

A home should build a family—not break one.

The Problem: The Exploitative Tax Loophole

While local families scramble to absorb rising costs, City Hall has quietly transformed property tax assessments into an economic weapon. Under Mayor Olivia Chow’s administration, property taxes were jacked up by a staggering 9.5%, followed by an additional 6.9% burden.

Worse, this system is heavily rigged against Ward 1 (Etobicoke North/Rexdale). Because property valuations are outdated, working-class suburban homeowners are paying disproportionately higher tax rates relative to their actual property values compared to affluent downtown elites. Furthermore, these massive tax hikes trigger an immediate pass-through rent crisis, as commercial landlords pass 100% of the tax increases directly onto immigrant shop owners via net leases, driving small businesses into bankruptcy or eviction.

The Policy Execution: The System Optimization Motion

Nathan Mazri is introducing a directive to mandate The Property Tax Reset and Absolute Freeze Act. This formal council motion completely bypasses passive bureaucrat delays by implementing a two-part structural override on the city treasury:

  1. The Day-One Rollback: Forcing an immediate recalculation of the Ward 1 residential rate to roll back recent hikes, delivering an automatic financial credit directly onto the next quarterly municipal tax bill for every property owner.
  2. The 4-Year Absolute Lock: Legally locking the property tax rate at a strict 0% growth cap for four consecutive years, completely blocking City Hall from raising the baseline levy on Ward 1 households.

The Benefits: Direct Household Savings & Market Stabilization

The objective is to return cold, hard purchasing power directly back into the pockets of the forgotten working class and senior homeowners. By locking in a strict 0% growth cap, we completely stabilize the suburban housing market and protect fixed-income seniors from getting priced out of their homes.

The localized revenue gap created by this rollback is 100% covered by the tens of millions of dollars recovered from our Aggressive Revenue Creation and Aggressive Corporate Asset Velocity.
